The African Urban Institute is an independent urban development think tank that conducts research on various topics of urban development in Africa and run several urban development programmes. Its research is streamlined into three themes,  urban sustainability, urban prosperity and inclusive cities. Spanning across academia, planning practice, private sector and international community, the Institute takes a generalist perspective to urban development. It seeks to overlay contributions of various specialists into a holistic framework for urban development. Flagship to the Institute’s publications are the ViewPoints which in form of commentaries gives an analytical perspective of experts on unfolding urban development trends.

The Timbuktu Forum is a biennial high-level dialogue of policymakers, urban thinkers, international community and private sector that interrogate critically urban challenges and prospects in Africa

AFRICAN URBAN CASE STUDIES INIATIATIVE (AUCSI)

A repository that consolidate flagship cases on urban development on the African continent to promote intra-Africa policy transfer. It profiles case studies in various thematic focus of the Institute.

THE AFRICAN URBAN VISION TRACKING INITIATIVE (AUVTI)

The Urban Vision Tracker Initiative seeks to monitor and assess the progress made by African cities in fulfilling their set visions and developed strategies.
