The African Urban Institute is an independent urban development think tank that conducts research on various topics of urban development in Africa and run several urban development programmes. Its research is streamlined into three themes, urban sustainability, urban prosperity and inclusive cities. Spanning across academia, planning practice, private sector and international community, the Institute takes a generalist perspective to urban development. It seeks to overlay contributions of various specialists into a holistic framework for urban development. Flagship to the Institute’s publications are the ViewPoints which in form of commentaries gives an analytical perspective of experts on unfolding urban development trends.
